About this work
The source is two engravings of English country houses from the Beauties of England and Wales. Adrian Card cut the prints into strips and wove them into a checkerboard, so the image simultaneously destroys and reconstitutes itself, and then enlarged the image and had it printed on archival paper as a giclée print. Then he worked details back in with ink and gouache.
