About this work
The source is two engravings of English country houses in Staffordshire drawn and engraved by C. Storer for the Beauties of England and Wales. Adrian Card cut the prints into strips and wove them into a checkerboard, so the image simultaneously destroys and reconstitutes itself, and then enlarged the image and had it printed on archival paper as a giclée print. He then reworked areas with ink and gouache to add another layer to the image.
