Mayan Bathroom Mural
Mayan Bathroom Mural. Acrylic on canvas-backed vinyl, installed as wallpaper. Trompe l'oeil sandstone masonry, scarlet macaws, tropical vegetation, and a distant Maya pyramid.
A small bathroom transformed into an imagined landscape of ancient Maya ruins and tropical jungle — painted entirely in the studio and installed like wallpaper.
This mural was painted entirely in my studio on thin, canvas-backed vinyl and subsequently installed like wallpaper, transforming a small bathroom into an imagined landscape of ancient Maya ruins and tropical jungle.
The sandstone masonry was painted freehand, with a lightweight grit incorporated into the paint to create a convincing stone texture. Tropical vegetation, macaws, and a distant pyramid complete the illusion.
Because the mural was prepared off-site, installation took only a few hours.
